Joshua Springs to Lower Tuition Fees
In an effort to fight back against the effects of the current economy, the Joshua Springs Board of Elders took a move of faith at a recent meeting to lower the school’s tuition fee to the lowest it has been in years. Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year the tuition will only be $399 per month for 10 months or $3990 per year. That is the lowest tuition of any fully accredited school in the entire Desert Region. Pastor Jerel Hagerman was very excited about the Board’s decision because the mission of the church and school has always been to reach out and develop the next generation that will soon be expected to run our country. “The current economy has families very concerned about what to do”, said Hagerman, “We want to help those families who want their children to have a quality God-centered education but are struggling. The lower tuition is a positive way to help them.”
Joshua Springs is the only school in the Morongo Basin with dual accreditation from both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), which is the same as the public schools, and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) which is the largest Christian school accreditor. In comparison to other private schools in the lower and high deserts, Marywood/Palm Valley was the most expensive with an annual rate of $16,795 per year, Desert Christian (CSOD) was next with $8,875 yearly, Apple Valley Christian was next at $6,550 yearly, Hesperia Christian was next at $6,435 yearly, Desert Chapel in Palm Springs was next at $5,750 yearly and then Joshua Springs at $3,990 per year. Joshua Springs is clearly at least 30% less than any of the schools mentioned and yet maintains a 99% graduation rate with 95% of the graduates going on to college. “We are very proud of our graduation rate, especially with the low graduation rate that currently exists in the California area.”, said Fem Ontiveros, Principal of Joshua Springs, “We offer a different culture here that offers the positive reinforcement of one on one teaching with smaller classrooms. It really does make a difference.”
