Lightning Tame the Lions 62-0!

It was a beautiful night for football, if you were a Lightning fan, if you were a CC Moreno Valley fan you were probably wondering if you were lost in the Twilight Zone. Before the Lightning fans took a bite out of their Tri-tip sandwiches, the Lightning were ahead 14-0 on two Interceptions by Junior Linebacker Eddie Nixon. The Lightning would go on to a 62-0 mercy rule that would end the game at the half.

The Lightning (2-0), who are now ranked #1 in CIF 8-Man Div 1, were ahead 41-0 at the end of the first quarter. Coach Roberts was looking for subs he could put into the game to make it seem more fair, but they were scoring too! It was just one of those blowouts that you no matter what you do it seems like your running up the score.

Top scorers in the game were Nixon who rushed for 48 yd's and two Td's to go with his two interception TD's for 51 return yd's on defense. Senior Camron Smith rushed for 15 yd's and a TD, Senior Aaron Newman rushed for 29 yd's and a TD, Junior Jon Krapivkin rushed for 24 yd's, a TD and had one catch for 8yds and a TD, Junior Derek Brogdon also had one catch for 5yds and a TD. Junior QB Jesse Frazer only passed the ball twice but both were for TD's.

On Defense the Lightning had four interceptions and 86 return yd's, two by Nixon and two by Senior Tommy Higgins. Junior Boomer Arnold had 8 tackles, Nixon had 7 tackles, Krapivkin had 7 tackles, Brogdon and Newman also had 5 tackles a each.

Next up for the Lightning is an away game at Trona, CA against the Trona Tornados. The game will start at 7:00PM. Directions to the game are on the JS Sports web site. The Tornados are 2-0 and looking forward to the Lightning coming to town.
