Lightning Roll 65-12 in Homecoming Game!
(Yucca Valley, CA) Lightning stadium was full of excitement Friday Night as the 1500+ fans came to see the crowning of the new Homecoming King and Queen, the mini-cheer camp graduates and a dominating performance by the Varsity football team over the Bethel Christian Eagles of Lancaster. The fans got a special treat as Pastor Jerel Hagerman arrived at the stadium from the air by Helicoptor. The Helicoptor landed right on the 50-yard line and Pastor Jerel sprang from the copter boasted a very large JS banner. Fans never know what he is going to do next!
The festivities started at 6:00PM with the introduction of the homecoming court and then the announcement of the King and Queen. The 2007 homecoming Queen was Pep band's own Asha Trevino-Winters and the King was football's Boomer Arnold.
In the game, the Eagles had a rough night of getting pounded 47-0 in the first quarter by the Lightning offense, (and Eddie "Nitro" Nixon wasn't even playing) the Eagles had -50 yards in rushing on the night but did get 114 in the air in the 2nd quarter against the Lightning JV team. The Lightning offense scored 9 times in the game and the defense scored once rolling up 285 of offense in 2 quarters of play; making this game the 3rd highest scoring game in the school's history.
On offense Junior QB Denzell Dobbins had 4 carries for 87 yds, sophomore RB Tyler Carlisle had 6 carries for 40 yds, senior QB Jesse Frazer had 2 carries for 24 yds and was 3 of 7 for 89 yds, 3 TDs and 1 interception, junior RB Chris Rogers had 1 carry for 19 yds, junior Chris Barnes had 3 carries for 21 yds. Senior Alex Carter had 1 carry for 8 yds. Carter also had 2 catches for 53 yds and Senior Jon Krapivin had 1 catch for 36 yds.
Top in defense for the game were Carter who had 5 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception, Krapivkin who had 5 tackles and 2 interceptions, senior Boomer Arnold who had 3 tackles, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery, junior Cole Roberts who had 5 tackles, sophomore Steven Henderson who had 4 tackles, 1/2 sack, and a fumble recovery, Frazer who had 3 tackles and a pass defense, Dobbins who had 3 tackles, senior Jeff Brady who had 2 tackles for a loss, 1/2 sack, and a fumble recovery and senior safety Derek Brogdon had 1 tackle and 4 pass defenses.
