Instant Replay...Lightning Win 68-20!

The Lightning (4-4, 4-0) hosted the Antelope Valley Christian Eagles Saturday night at Lightning Stadium before a home crowd of approximately 500. The Lightning were hoping to continue their 3 game winning streak by taking the win at home from the 2-6 Eagles... and that's exactly what they did pulling an instant replay of last week's game winning 68-20 again. It was also senior night and all the seniors from the football and volleyball team were honored.

The game started out with the Lightning taking control going up 16-8 in the first quarter. The Lightning shut out the Eagles in the 2nd quarter while added another 16 to their totoal making it 32-8 at the half. The 3d quarter was an offensive battle as the Eagles scored twice as did the Lightning and the score was 46-20 after 3 quarters of play. The Lightning defense stepped it up and shut the Eagles out again in the 4th while the offense rolled on to a 68-20 victory scoring 22 pts.

Top players in the game were QB Zack Ontiveros who was 7 of 9 for 80 yds and 3 TDs. Cole Roberts rushed 21 times for 135, 2TDs and two 2-pt conversions, Tyler Carlisle rushed 19 times for 110 yds, 2 TDs and two 2-pt conversions. Josh Leightner had 6 catches for 78 yds , 3 TDs and two 2-pt conversions and Ryan Parker had 1 catch for 3 yds for a 2-pt conversion.

On Defense Steven Henderson had 11 tackles and a 30 yd interception return for a TD, Josh Leichtner had 9 tackles, Erik McClay had 5 tackles, Vince Ames had 5 tackles and .5 sacks, Denzell Dobbins had 5 tackles and a fumble recovery, Tyler Carlisle had 5 tackles, Roberts had 4 tackles and a 17 yd interception return, Ryan Parker had 3 tackles and a sack, Sean Miller had 2 tackles and a fumble recovery. Chris barnes had 2 tackles and .5 sackes.

Next up for the Lighting is an away game at Bethel Christian next Saturday at 1:00PM at Lancaster, Ca.
