Wham..Bam..Lightning win 54-6!

The Lightning varsity football team (5-4, 5-0) won their 5th straight win Saturday against the Bethel Christian Eagles while earning their 5th straight Agape League title. This is the most consecutive Agape League titles ever by a Joshua Springs team in any sport. The Lightning also earned their 11th straight trip to the CIF playoffs. The Lightning will be playing post season this year in the 8Man Division II because of a drop in the student population this year.

The Lightning traveled a long 4 hour drive for a very short game which ended at halftime by the 45 pts mercy rule. The Lightning opened up the 1st quarter scoring 24 pts while the Eagles did manage to pick up 6 points. The Lightning scored 30 pts in the 2nd quarter and that was the game...Wham..Bam.. Its over!

Top players in the game were QB Zack Ontiveros who was 11 of 18 for 145 yds and 2 TDs. Cole Roberts rushed 10 times for 105 yds and 2TDs, Tyler Carlisle rushed 16 times for 105 yds, 3 TDs and three 2-pt conversions. Josh Leightner had 7 catches for 117 yds , 2 TDs and two 2-pt conversions and Denzell Dobbins had 1 catch for 3 yds for a 2-pt conversion.

On Defense Leichtner had 6 tackles, Carlisle had 5 tackles and a Interception, Roberts had 4 tackles, Dobbins had 4 tackles, Steven Henderson had 2 tackles and a sack, Erik McClay had 3 tackles, Vince Ames had 1 tackle and 1.5 sacks, Denzell Dobbins had 4 tackles and .5 sack and Ryan Parker had 1 tackles.

Next up for the Lighting is a first round playoff game at home next Friday against Lighthouse Christian.
