Lightning Volleyball News...
Lightning Defeat the Warriors 3-1!
The Apple Valley Christian Warriors have visited the Thunderdome several times over the last two years and when they arrived it was just business as usual to them. The Lady Lightning, on the other hand, had their own agenda....beat the Warriors and send a message to the rest of the Agape League that this year they will be playing hard, aggressive, volleyball. Apple Valley and Joshua Springs tied for 2nd place in the Agape League last year and both teams went to the playoffs so, this game was important to both teams. The Lady Lightning took the first game 15-11 and then in the second game jumped out 11-2, only to run a series of bad serves and lose both the momentum and the game 14-16. The Lightning made a comeback by stepping up the defense and won the third game 15-3. The early part of the fourth game was a defensive battle and then the momentum swayed to the Lightning and they won 15-9. It was a great game and both teams played well. The Lightning defense was strong and their serving was 95%... hitting 115 for 121. The Lightning move to 1-0 in Agape League play and are 9-2 overall.
The JV team, consisting of all freshman, played well but lost their match 0-2. They are 0-1 in League Play and 2-4 overall.
The Lightning travel to Antelope Valley Christian this Thursday (Oct 10th) in their 2nd Agape League match. The JV game starts at 4:30 and the Varsity at 5:30. See the Schedule for directions to the game.
