Lightning Finish 4th at "Rock the Dome" Tourny

The Joshua Springs Lightning Volleyball Team, for the third year in a row has won the Joshua Springs "Rock the Thunderdome" volleyball tournament. In pool play the Lightning started off slow losing the first game 19-25, and then they never looked back going undefeated in the next nine games, to finish first in their group of six teams. In the first match in the playoffs the Lightning defeated Vasquez High School of Acton, California, 2-0. In the semi-final match they beat Calvary Chapel Redlands, 2-0. In the Rock the Thunderdome finals, Joshua Springs being down 0-1 against Pacific Christian, came from behind to win the tournament with three wins and no losses.
The Lightning, now currently ranked 8th in division 5AA, were led by tournament Co-MVPs Amber Carter, and Becca Millard. Amber and her sore arm led the tournament in kills and blocked shots. Becca, who led the tournament in assists, and aces both at different times during the tournament. She also used the great court leadership skills to pilot the Lightning to their 3rd "Rock the Thunderdome" Championship in three years.

Other Joshua Springs players who were selected to the All-Tournament team were Amanda "Nellie" Nelson, Katrina Abel, Ashley Vrooman, and Allison Reed. The Lightning will next face Riverside Christian, ranked 7th, in the division on Thursday in the Thunderdome.
