Lightning Volleyball News...Lady Lightning Lose to Bethel in 5 Games! The Lady Lightning volleyball team have had a real work out over the last 5 days (Oct 1-5) playing Palm Valley on Friday, Hosting the 2nd Annual Thunderstruck tournament on Saturday and opening their Agape League season with the Bethel Christian Eagles at the Thunderdome on Tuesday evening. The Lady Lightning defeated Palm Valley 3-0 on Friday and survived the Thunderstruck tournament even though all of thier team captains were injured, while playing against teams like Yucca Valley, 29 Palms and Linfield Christian. Bethel Christian was expecting an easy win over the Lady Lightning who are only 2-7 on the year and ran into a very determined Lightning team that gave them all they could handle. Bethel Christian won the first games 19-25, The Lightning came back and won the 2nd game 25-22 in a very exciting game. Bethel Christian then won the third game 13-25. The Lady Lightning then played great defense and won the 4th game 25-16. The tie-breaker went back and fourth until the last few serves when the Eagles got the upperhand and won 11-15. This was by far the best match of the year for the Lady Lightning. Senior Misty Knehr was outstanding for the Lightning with 10 Blocks and 2 Kills, Junior Amanda Nelson had 2 blocks, 3 kills and a ace, Junior Katy Ortiz had 1 block and 3 kills, Junior Katrina Abel had 1 block and an ace, Junior Ashley Vrooman had 3 kills and Sophomore Allison Reed's serving was too hot to handle as she produced 4 aces and 2 kills.
