Lightning Finish 4th at "Rock the Dome" Tourny

The 3rd Annual "Rock the Dome" Volleyball tournament was held 9/11/04 at the Joshua Springs Thunderdome. The tournament was a all-day tournament that started at 8:30AM and went until about 6:00PM when the Champions received their trophy.

This year seven teams from all around Southern California participated in the tournament. Teams participating were First Lutheran (LA area), Lake Arrowhead Christian, Baker Valley, Palm Valley, Eastside Christian (Orange County), Calvary Chapel Redlands, and of course Joshua Springs.

The first half of the tournament teams were divided into two pools and played each other two games each to determine the seedings for the final tournament. Once the final tournament started it was single elimination with a consolation bracket for third place. The Championship game would be three games to 25 using "Rally" scoring.

The Champions of the 2004 "Rock the Dome" tournament was Calvary Chapel Redlands, First Lutheran took 2nd, Lake Arrowhead Christian took 3rd (Consolation), Joshua springs finished 4th, Baker Valley 5th, Eastside Christian 6th and Palm Valley 7th.

Playing on the Lightning Varsity Volleyball team this year are senior Misty Knehr, juniors Katrina Abel, Danielle Buckner, Anandi Hira, Amanda Nelson, Katy Ortiz, Melissa Ward, Ashley Vrooman and sophomores Laura Adair, Allison Reed and Christina Stratton.

Next up for the Lightning will be an away game at Baptist Christian in Hemet, CA on September 23rd at 5:00. Then they will be back home at the thunderdome on September 24th against Riverside Christian at 5:00PM.
