Lightning Volleyball News...Lady Lightning Qualify for Playoffs!The Lady Lightning (7-12, 5-5) finished the second half of the season strong, earning a wild-card playoff birth to the CIF Div V playoffs . The Lady Lightning defeated Victor Valley Christian on Tuesday and Apple Valley Christian on Thursday earning a 3rd place finish in the Agape League with a 5-5 record. The third place finish was enough to qualify for a Wild-card spot in the playoffs. The Lady Lightning will play Upland Christian at Upland on Tuesday at 7:00PM. On Tuesday the Lady Lightning defeated Victor Valley Christian in 5 Games, 25-19, 25-16, 14-25, 15-25 and 15-12. Junior Ashley Vrooman was a perfect 19 of 19 from the serving line and had 3 kills on defense. Junior Danielle Buckner had 5 kills and 3 aces, Sophomore Allison Reed had 5 kills and 2 aces, Junior Amanda Nelson had 5 kills and 4 blocks and Junior Katy Ortiz had 3 kills. Junior Melissa Ward was 11 for 12 on her serves with 2 aces and Junior Anandi Hira was 6 for 6 serving with 2 aces. The Thursday game was a game of defense as the Lady Lightning shut-out Apple Valley Christian 3-0, winning 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21. Senior Misty Knehr paved the way on defense with 7 kills and 6 blocks, Nelson had 7 blocks and 1 kill, Vrooman had 3 kills and Junior Katrina Abel had 2 kills. Vrooman was also 11 for 12 serving with 3 aces, Buckner was 10 for 10 serving and Abel was 6 for 6 serving. Lady Lightning JV win 2-0 over Apple Valley Christian! The Lady Lightning JV (13-3, 9-1) defeated The Apple Valley Warriors in two games, 25-12 , 25-14, at the Thunderdome on Thursday finishing the regular season 13-3 and 9-1 in Agape League play. This was an incredible year for the JV team and things look very promising for next year. Sophomore Kristin Manley had 8 aces and 3 kills and sophomore Alyse Young had 2 kills. On Tuesday, the JV squad defeated Victor Valley Christian 25-21 and 25-19. Manley had 3 kills and 3 aces, sophomore Carissa Rarick had 3 kills and 1 ace and Sophomore Alyse Young had 2 kills.
