Lightning Volleyball News... Lady Lightning Defeat EEC Eagles 3-0!The Thunderdome was full of excitement Tuesday afternoon as the Lady Lightning took on the Excelsior Education Center Eagles from Victorville, CA. The Lady Lightning (2-2, 1-0) were looking to rebound from two losses in a row and get back on track with their first Agape League game. The Lady Lightning had very little problems with the Eagles taking all three games 25-7, 25-20 and 25-18. The second game was closer because coach Newcomb wanted to get everyone some playing time. The Lady Lightning seemed to be just a little out of sink creating 18 server errors on the night. The Lady Lightning are usually a 90% or better serving team and they did have 28 aces on the night which is why they were able to overcome so many errors. Top scorers for the Lady Lightning were Senior Allison Reed who had 4 kills and 2 aces, Senior Aubrey Fowler who had 4 kills and 1 ace, Senior Amanda Newcomb had 11 aces, 10 assists and 2 kills, Senior Alyse Young had 3 kills and 3 aces, Senior Carrisa Rarick had 2 kills and 4 aces, Senior Gloria Williams had 1 kill and 3 aces, Freshman Haley Hughes had 1 kill and 2 aces and Junior Kylie McKoy had 2 aces. Next up for the Lady Lightning, is a home game with the Apple Valley Christian Warriors, Thursday Sept. 21st at the Thunderdome. The game will be at 5:30PM. The Warriors will be a very good match for the Lightning and they are an Agape League team as well.
