Lightning Volleyball News... ![]() Lady Lightning Stuff the Eagles 3-0!The Lady Lightning (6-6, 1-0) opened Agape League play against the Antelope Valley Chrisitian Eagles (0-6, 0-2) on Tuesday, Oct. 7th at the Thunderdome. The Lady Eagles, who do not have a JV team and only 7 total players, were looking to pick up their first win against the Lady Lightning in their last 19 tries (since 1999). Coach Newcomb, trying to make the games more competitive used two JV players in each of the first two games and all JV players for the last match. This was a great way to get more playing time for his players. The first game was dominated by the serving of Abby Lombardo and Emily Wilson who had several kills in the first game. Haley Allen also had a couple of nice kills. The Lady Lightning won the game 25-11. The 2nd game was more of the same with great serves from Lombardo and good setting from Jackie Cook. Kim Trowbridge was strong at the net as was Wilson. Jennifer Kiefer has a couple of nice kills, the Lady Lightning won 25-8. The 3rd and final game was more of an even match as it was all JV except for Trowbridge who stayed in the game to practice her serving. The star of the 3rd game was Tasha McPherson who dominated with eight straight serves and three aces and then later picked up, two more aces. However, there seemed to be confusion by the Lady Lightning JV players and a lot of points were scored on court errors. If not for the serving of Mcpherson it might have went four games. The Lady Lightning did pull through it, winning 25-22.
