The Lady Lightning (7-6, 2-0) hosted the Apple Valley Christian Warriors on Thursday, Oct. 9th at the Thunderdome. The Lady Warriors swept the Lady Lightning last year and were coming into the game feeling confident since the Lightning are only 6-6 on the year. What they found was a very determined Lightning team that was ready to play. The Lightning defeated the Warriors 26-24, 25-23 and 25-19 and moved to 2-0 in Agape League play.

The Lady Warriors jumped ahead in the first game 11-22 and looked like they were going to run away with it when Freshman Haley Allen took her turn to serve. Allen then gave the Thunderdome a show of perfection from the serving line running off 9 straight points including 2 aces and finished with 4 aces in that game. Even when the score reached 17-22, and the Warrior coach called a time out to ice Allen, Allen continue to score 5 more points after the time out. The game tied up at 23-23 all but Emily Wilson put the final touches on this game with a poweful kill for the game point. Lightning 26-24.

The 2nd game was a game of solid serving and great play from the net. Allen had 3 kills, Jackie Cook had 4 aces and 3 kills, and Wilson had 3 aces and 2 kills. Ashlyn Morrison also had a nice kill. Lightning won 25-23.

In the final game the Lightning played great defense with 8 kills, 3 blocks two of those coming from Kim Trowbridge an one from Nicole Barker. The last game ended 25-19 and the Lady Lightning controlled it most of the way.

Outstanding play game from Allen who had 11 kills and 4 aces, Wilson who had 9 kills and 4 aces, Barker had 3 kills and a Block, Cook had 2 kills, but was 10 for 10 in serving and Morrison was 8 for 8 in serving, with 27 digs and 1 kill. Abby Lombardo had 13 digs and 8 assists. Cook also had 13 digs and 16 assists.

Next up for the Lady Lightning is a home game with Hesperia Christian on Friday October 17th at 4:00PM at the Thunderdome. There will be a Jr High and Junior Varsity match before this game. All matches start at 2:00PM.
