It seems just like yesterday that the Lightning football team was playing in the CIF 8Man Div II Championship, and here it is time for the annual purple and gold game that showcases the new team each year. We have a new team, a new coach and a few changes. Coach Jackie has packed up the truck and moved to Idaho where he is the new senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Buhl. We wish Jackie the best as he now focuses on his full time ministry goals.
The new head coach is AD Israel Hagerman who moved over from coaching the Jr high team for the last 9 years, to take on the varsity head coaching position. The good thing is Coach Hagerman knows all of the kids and he is getting most all of his coaches back. Coach Mock will move over to take the Jr High coaching position.
The team will have 6 returning starters which most of them play both ways along with some juniors and sophomores that look promising. To get a good up-close look at this year's team come out on Aug. 22nd and watch the Purple N Gold game. Call the school to get actual game times at 760-365-3599.
The regular season will start on Saturday, Sept. 12th as the Lightning travel to Los Angeles to take on Faith Baptist. The Lightning will once again have a rough schedule meeting 4 of last years playoff teams in the first four weeks. The first home game will be on Friday, September 18th against Santa Clarita Christian. The game will start at 7:00PM at Lightning stadim.
